Futures

Futures carries Albany/Kinjarling forward across every scale of time to come. In the near future, where the Menang-Noongar calendar once held six distinct seasons, one path leads to a single long, dry season — but this is a fork, not a fate: the choices made now still shape which way the country turns. From there the perspective pulls back to geological and cosmological timescales — the slow erosion of the Albany-Fraser ranges, the shifting of continents that may yet bring new ice ages, and, in the very deep future, the eventual fate of our sun. The story of this place, carried to the largest frame imaginable.
